Previous Chapters: Chapter 1
“Julia, I’m on my way over. We need to talk. I’ll be there in fifteen.”
Connor felt his heart was about to explode out of his chest as he put the phone down. So much to do, so little time, mistakes in the making and fucked up orders.
Julia.
Ah Julia, his fiery red head and the only bridge left to his humanity.
What to do…The clock was ticking and he was running out of time. He knew she would try to blow his head off.
Julia.
He smiled and quickly picked up a wad of passports, more rolls of currency and put them into his jacket pocket. He had to play this just right. He paused, breathed deeply, took one final look around the apartment and gently placed a small box into his breast pocket.
Outside, the crisp air greeted him as he ran out the building and his thoughts continued to pummel his mind. Julia, she was a tough little number, a true veteran, and it would be hard to get her to bite, let alone trust him. He quickened his pace, and side stepped out of a request for a lighter. Before he knew it he was in front of her door, reaching for the bell. He paused and silently clicked the saftey off his gun and then rang for her.
